バルセロナの建築家、批評家イグナシ・デ・ソラ=モラレス・ルビオーによって提起された「テラン・ヴァーグ」という言葉があります。私たちの企画するイベントタイトルはそこから取っています。

私たちの未知性としての「テラン・バーグ（都市の空き地）」は、都市の無意識でもあり、日常の利用にとっては都市の外在性でもあります。建築はそこに多重多様な線を引き、外在性を馴染みやすいものに変えていきます。しかし、神社や寺院やお茶室や庭が志向したように、都市には深層意識に触れられたり、ゼロに帰れる場所が必要です。

若い頃よりセイリングに親しみ、ヨットのノット・タイイング（ロープ結び）に熟練したケンさんは、その後日本の水引むすびなどを学び、独自のロープワークを形作ってきました。

「むすび」は「産す・霊（ひ）」であり、連続性を失わず、次の命の結節となります。

そしてループしたり、編まれたり、結び合わされたりして、ヴォイドを編み込んで行き、ヴォイドや無意識や海や山を孕みながら身に付けることのできるブレスレットとなります。

今回のパラロープで作るブレスレットは、編み込んで輪にし、身に付けるというお守りの一つでもありますし、何かの際に解いて、命綱ともなる美しい優れものです。

未来の都市や建築のささやかなモデルかもしれません。

The architect Ignasi Solà-Morales Rubió proposed a series of continuous transformations, similar to the "plateaus" of Gilles Deleuze, i.e. to recognize plans established by specific random points. The five that he initially proposed were: "mutations," "flows," "rooms," "containers" and "terrain vague;" a nomadic science that is changing, imprecise, and produces random instruments.

The knot-tying boatswain's study and practice of MARLINSPIKE: the setting of rope, line and knots in over-and-under patterns using clockwise and counter-clockwise twists is another kind of physics' - nomadic science - ruled by the free imagination of the boatswain and his crew.

In place of Ignasi Solà-Morales Rubió's "mutations," "flows," "rooms," "containers" and "terrain vague," we will use terms like "loops, bends, bights, hitches, stoppers, splices and whippings" to build our instruments."

Making a Mitsuami bracelet.
Making a Two-Strand Mitsuami bracelet.
Making a Three-Strand Mitsuami bracelet.
Making the Cobra Braid (if time allows)

三つ編みブレスレットを作成します。

【プロフィール】
KEN
Born in Hollywood, California. Ken began sailing at the age of ten, mastering the most important yachting knots for boats and their rigging by the age of 18. Sailed on a yacht from Los Angeles, California to Hawaii in 1969. Moved from Honolulu, Hawaii to Tokyo in 1976 to join The National Theater's Kabuki Trainee Program. Joined NHK's Entertainer Division and two years later, the Drama Division. Ken began a study of Japanese Mizuhiki at the instigation of Kyoto's Noriko Nakabayashi and now teaches and creates rope work or marlinspike.
